He was a brilliant pop craftsman, a veritable magician in the studio, and one of the most important record producers of all time. He was also a paranoiac, drug addict, and closeted homosexual who died by his own hand at the age of 37. A Life in the Death of Joe Meek explores the enigma of the musical genius who couldn’t play an instrument, the producer who discovered Jimmy Page but passed on the Beatles (“just another bunch of noise”), and the DIY pioneer who invented the modern recording studio.
